Human Resources

The Human Resources module lets you declare and validate on-call interventions, and compute the on-call compensation of your teams.

The Human Resources module lets you manage the HR aspects of on-call duty: declaring and validating interventions, and computing the compensation of your team members. It is accessible from the main Tools tab, then Human Resources.

Note: The Human Resources module is a beta feature.

Overview

The overview summarizes the on-call activity of your teams: total number of interventions, interventions pending validation and total number of hours (for the current month and year to date), recent interventions, and current and upcoming on-call shifts.

Interventions

An intervention corresponds to work carried out during an on-call shift. Each intervention has a summary, the member who intervened, a start date and an end date, and optional notes.

An intervention follows this lifecycle:

  1. Draft: the intervention is only visible to its author, and has not yet been submitted for validation.
  2. Pending: the intervention has been submitted, and is awaiting approval from a validator.
  3. Validated: the intervention has been approved by a validator, and is taken into account in payroll. A validation can be revoked, with a reason.
  4. Rejected: the intervention has been rejected by a validator, with a reason. It can then be edited and submitted again.

The list of interventions can be filtered by status, month, people and teams. Validating interventions is reserved for Owners and users with the corresponding permission (see Access control).

Payroll

The Payroll tab shows, for each month and each member, the compensation items related to on-call duty: number of on-call days, validated intervention hours, on-call allowance, intervention allowance and total. The details of each amount are available (weekdays, weekends or public holidays; daytime, night-time, weekend or public holiday interventions).

Payroll items can be exported as CSV, to be passed on to your payroll department. Astry flags members with no assigned contract, or belonging to several teams with different contracts.

Settings and contracts

Compensation rules are defined as named contracts (for example Senior Engineer). Each contract includes:

  • the currency and the time zone
  • working hours (start and end of day) and working days
  • public holidays and exceptions
  • rounding of started time units
  • hourly intervention rates: working day (daytime), working day (night-time), weekend, public holiday
  • daily on-call rates: working day, weekend, public holiday

A calculation example lets you check the configuration. Contracts are then assigned to teams, and exceptions can be defined to assign a contract directly to a member (this individual assignment takes precedence over their team's). Managing contracts is reserved for Owners and users with the corresponding permission.
